Our Judgment is Just for the Government?

I was recently told that on a Kenneth Copeland telecast, it was said that the judgment for the United States would be only on our government. Could such a thing be true? Can we expect this nation as a whole to escape and just have our leaders fall under judgment? What does scripture show us in regards to this statement? Scripture really is quite clear on the veracity of this statement.

I have said before in previous pieces that our television ministers have a strong motivation against believing this nation as a whole will be judged. After all, if this nation is judged, then more than likely their ministries will suffer and probably come to an end. Therefore, they can easily end up convincing themselves judgment will not really strike this nation from God. Could that be true? Let us examine scripture to see what is the truth.

We know from the scripture that the kingdom of Judah faced God’s judgment for all the evil going on in the society.

Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me, Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read: Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched. (2 Kings 22:15-17)

Before we go on with an analysis of this passage, let us read what God said about King Manasseh in 2 Kings 24: 3-4.

Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this (judgment) upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, and also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the Lord would not pardon.

King Manasseh represented the government in Judah. He was so evil and reigned for such a long time (55 years) that God had his fill of the evil that was going on in the land of Judah. God would not pardon or delay judgment anymore. It was going to come soon after his grandson would die who was probably the best king the land of Judah ever had. The question becomes, did God judge just the government of Judah or did he judge the whole land? Unfortunately for the people, he judged the whole land despite all the evil Manasseh did.

Manasseh shed innocent blood in abundance. We shed innocent blood in abundance in this country, too through abortion. Yet, despite the fact Manasseh was responsible for shedding a lot of innocent blood, God judged the whole land. In the United States, the courts have legalized abortion. The government has blood on its hands for doing this. However, who are the people having abortions, and who are the people performing the abortions? It is the public at large and not the government. Therefore, blood is also on the hands of the people of the United States and not just the government. So, do you think God will only judge our government and not the nation as a whole when we consider this fact?

It is true that the people of this nation have elected evil people to become our rulers. The reason we have done this is because of where we are spiritually in this nation. Judah had bad kings like Manasseh because their society separated itself from God. We have received the rulers we have today, because we also have separated ourselves from God. Our rulers are a reflection of where we are in relationship to God spiritually. Since we have departed from God in our society, we get leaders like President Obama and Bill Clinton who have done very destructive things to harm this nation’s moral compass. Our society is collapsing in front of our very eyes which is now sending alarm bells to people throughout this nation. There has never been a time like this in this nation’s history where we no longer have a moral compass.

All I can tell you is that whoever said our government would face judgment and not the nation as a whole is wrong. There is no scripture or word from God that backs up this statement. It is merely someone who does not want to admit to themselves that we all will face consequences for this nation departing from God. And I can tell you the culprit behind our predicament is God’s people. 2 Chronicles 7: 14 says:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Notice from this passage that God is talking to his people which in today’s world are the Christians. God’s church is his people. God says for his people to turn from their wicked ways. It is God’s church that has moved into sin and separated itself from God. It is because of his people turning away from him that has caused the rest of the people in this nation to move into debaucheries that would never have been tolerated in our society in earlier decades. Christians are responsible for where this nation has moved spiritually. It is only God’s people who can save this nation as a result. We have to humble ourselves, pray, seek his face and turn from our wicked ways to save the United States from judgment. There is no other solution.

In the book of Romans, we have the following scriptures:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shown it to them.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, spiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Therefore you have no excuse, Oh man, whoever you are that judges: for wherein you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judges are doing the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And do you think this, Oh man, that judges them which do such things, and you do the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long-suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

But after your hardness and impenitent heart, you treasure up to yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; who will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life.

But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; but glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: for there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without the law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. (Romans 1: 18- 2: 12)

The description of the sins being committed in this nation are in these verses. And when we talk about people judging one another; we can see how the liberals in our society use judgment to cow God’s church into submission. Who has the power? God gave his people power over all the weapons of the enemy. It is his people that have the power to save this nation, but where is the boldness we need from the church? It is nowhere to be found. We are giving this nation up to destruction without a fight. We must rise up and fight right now to save our country. We cannot retreat and prepare for days of judgment like Jim Bakker does in his ministry without first rising up and do all we can to take this country back for God. That is what he expects from the people that make up his church. Our time is almost up. If we do not act today, then we will soon wake up and find out that the time we could act has already passed.
