The Left: Redefining Words

Here we go again. The left is in an uproar over an Indiana law granting a right for a person to have a hearing when they object to refusing services to certain individuals or events because of religious conviction. Never mind it is for not having the government force them to do something against their religious convictions before having a hearing. The left does not care. They want to force people to tow the line of their own religious dogma: liberal theology. How are they going about this? There biggest weapon is the war of words and how they redefine words to attack their enemy: Christians.

I saw on a late night Fox program a few people talking who are usually conservative in their views, but when it comes to homosexuality, that conservatism melts away in some of them. The host goes on to say that anyone who supports this law is a hater and a bigot. There is a word that the left has redefined. If you are against homosexuality, you are a bigot. Let us study this word a little further.

In John 8, the Pharisees bring a woman caught in the very act of adultery to Jesus. They ask him, “Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now, Moses in the law commanded us saying that such should be stoned: but what do you say?” These hypocrites were laying a trap for Jesus. They knew if he said to stone her, then he would be breaking the Roman law which only allowed the Romans to carry out capital crimes. On the other hand, if he said to let her go, he would be breaking Moses’ law. There seemed to be no way out. Jesus however turned it back on them. He said, “He that is without sin, let him first cast a stone at her.” He left the decision of executing her on them. Never mind that the Jews were breaking Moses’ law in the first place by not bringing the man that was caught in the act of adultery with the woman. Remember, they said she was caught in the very act. Where was the man? Moses’ law said both should be stoned. The result of Jesus turning this decision back on them caused all to leave. At the end, Jesus and the woman were alone. What did Jesus say to her? He said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Is there no man that has accused you?” She said, No man, Lord.” He then said, “Neither do I condemn you: go and sin no more?”

What did Jesus do in this situation? He showed love to her even though he pointed out to her in an indirect way that she had sinned. Was Jesus a bigot because he did not approve of her sin? That is what he should be called if we follow the reasoning of the left in this Indiana case. What do I mean? What is adultery? It is someone who is married having sex with someone with whom they are not married. What is homosexuality? It is having sex with a person of the same sex, and until recently a person to whom you are not married, also. What is the big difference between the two? There is no big difference. They both are about how each person chooses to have sex. However, if you oppose homosexuality you are a bigot in today’s world. That means you hate the person. There is no possible way you cannot hate someone who commits acts of which you do not approve. That means Jesus was a bigot and a hater because he did not approve of the sex act this woman was doing. Is that really true? Did Jesus hate the woman? No, he gave her a remedy to save her soul? If he hated her, he would condemn her, but that is not what he did. Are we really guilty of hating homosexuals because we do not approve of their sin acts? No, because as born again Christians, Jesus lives inside of us, and his love for others is inside of us. The left can never understand that, but that will not stop them for redefining the word bigot to attack us.

The host on the Fox program went on to say that those who support this law are afraid to say why they support it. He could not see that he was afraid to say why he was against the law. He was afraid to testify that he knew homosexuality is a sin in his heart. No one in a pure conscience can say that homosexuality is not a sin. God’s word says, “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law are a law to themselves. They show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts which either accuses them or excuses them.” (Romans 2: 14-15) These verses are saying God’s laws are written in all of our hearts. Our consciences testify to us of what is sin and what is not sin. This host knows homosexuality is wrong in God’s eyes, but he has chosen to rebel against God.

What is going on in this Indiana case by the left is an attempt at thought control. You are not allowed to have your own thoughts. You have to agree with the left. You have to tow their line and their dogma. They think they are not religious, but they are ensnared totally inside a religion of “Everyone can do what is right in their own eyes.” That puts them in opposition to God who knows that sinful man will always choose evil over good to try and satisfy that lust that is inside of them. Man cannot make the world just without God. There is nothing good inside of man. “There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3: 10) They want to create a world without God in which they can do whatever they want at any time. That is why they attack Christians and Christianity. That is why they raise up this stink in Indiana. They want sin in this world, unrestrained.

Does anyone really believe that this nation is on the right track? Does anyone really think God can bless such a nation where Christians will not stand up and defend Christian values from this media assault against God’s moral laws? Who is standing up to this? Some television ministers may say something on their television shows, but there is no protesting going on or any movement to stop the assault on our Christian values. If we do not stand up now, then God will leave us to ourselves to be destroyed. One more moral code will soon fall completely, and then judgment will closely follow if we do nothing. So, the time has come to organize and stand up to this assault. Will you join with me and help save this country before it is too late?
