Why Try to Defeat the Counsel of God?

September 16, 2012

Dinesh D’Souza has put out a documentary to get people ultimately to not vote for Obama in the upcoming election. He explores what makes Obama tick and what one can expect from him in a second term as president. When answering a question at one event regarding the church and the Bible in bringing people together to defeat Obama; he answered that we have a society that is so secular today, that it would not work to use God and the Bible to defeat Obama. Is that true? Let us explore that argument a little.

What makes a society great and keeps it alive? How do we determine what it takes for a society to be great? Certainly, military power is one of the first things we look at. It does not take a belief in the God of the Bible for a society to become great, because we have so many examples of great societies like Rome that rose to heights before Christianity was even born. But what caused the collapse of these societies? Ultimately, things like the family unit began to disintegrate. In the case of the western half of the Roman Empire, the population began declining and tax revenue was not enough to fund the military Rome needed to protect its borders. The family unit was disintegrating and fewer children were being born. The family unit was basically under attack from different sources in combination that led to its fatal decline for that society. You will find this scenario play out again and again in other great empires whose power waned and eventually declined to fatal levels. Now look at what is happening in the U.S. today. The family unit is under attack and the birth rate has been declining throughout the western nations that are not third world countries. Do you really think that is not a sign of ultimate collapse? Guess what happens when the revenue is not there to fund our military any more. Will the next market collapse finish off our ability to fund our military?

In my book, “Jeremiah’s Prophecies: The End of the United States” God says, “There is a famine of the word of God in the land…Its citizens’ spirits are dried up by the absence of my word.” This is beginning to answer D’Souza’s belief that we are too secular to use God and the Bible to reach the people of this country to defeat Obama in this election. God goes on to say, “(The people of this country) do not refrain from walking after their evil desires. Because they do this, I reject them and will not forget their sin. Their sin has found them out, and they must suffer the consequences.” Does this sound like we should try some other way to enlighten the secular people of this country? How did Jesus get people’s attention? He went about preaching and healing the sick. God gets people’s attention through signs and wonders. Would you like for God to get your attention through another great disaster like 9/11? When nothing else works, that is exactly what is going to happen. D’Souza is wrong. We have to point the way using the same methods Jesus used. If you do not know how to heal the sick, then learn how to do it. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is no respecter of persons. Jesus said in John 14:12, “He that believes on me, the works that I do, shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father.” I have news for you. Jesus has already gone to the Father.

Ultimately, D’Souza’s effort to defeat Obama to save America is noble, but misguided. He is apparently a dean of a Christian college but seems to not think God is the real answer to defeat Obama. How more misguided than that can one be? God placed Obama into power to judge us and has said every effort to defeat his agenda will fail. God gives us warnings to not resist what this spirit that is behind all this is doing to us. It will only lead to more suffering and failure. By fighting against Obama’s agenda, one is simply trying to defeat the counsel of God. Acts 5:38-39 says, “If this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: but if it be of God, you cannot overthrow it; lest you be found to fight against God.” God is judging the United States and any effort to defeat this judgment cannot succeed. Why then fight for a losing cause? If you want Obama to fail, then the only way that is going to happen is repenting and turning back to God. Each person must start winning others to Christ to turn this country’s heart around. If you do nothing, then all the curses written in the Bible are going to overcome the people in this country and its fall is just around the corner. Believe it or not.
